flowrs4opheliaHey, everyone. Just wanted to let you know the statis of this journal. "Potterization" is officially over, although that definitely doesn't mean I won't be posting a lot more HP recs and won't keep writing and posting fanfic myself. With the movie coming out so soon and everything, it's likely I will be very active in that again just like during July. But I will probably start posting some of my original stuff like I was before the HBP hype...and I need to get some different icons.
I also wanted to let you know about a couple changes in the way stories and recommendations are archived in the memory entries. The amount of recommendations saved in the memories is getting big enough that I thought it needed some organization that would help people find the kind of thing they would want to read. So I have now written in abbreviations what the important characters and pairings are in each fanfic. Pairings are always shown with a slash and characters not part of a pairing in the story are just separated from the others by commas. If there are multiple parts to a fanfic of my own that I post, I will only write out the pairings and characters for the first chapter. So, everything in the memory entries list is now presented in this form:
Recs-Recommendation: "Title" (Fandom) [pairing, other character, other character]
Recommendation: "The Boggart In The Vending Machine" (Harry Potter) [SS,MM,AD]
Recommendation: "Is That Your Light Saber Or Are You Just Happy To See Me?" (Star Wars) [OK/PA,AS]
My stuff- "Title", chapter # (Fandom) [pairings and characters for 1st chapter only]
"Ping Pong Lessons On The Holodeck", Chapter 1 (Star Trek Voyager) [TP/BT]
"Merry's Phantasmagoric Experience On Shrooms", one part (Lord of the Rings) [MB,PT,FB]
Not exactly rocket science. I'm sure it's not confusing and people will be able to find their way around here even once I have dozens of stories archived.
There is also an addition to the memories, a section called "The Top Bookshelf." The best of the best stories in every fandom are put here in addition to their fandom section. I am already very picky about what is good enough to recommend here, and anyone whose story is here at all should feel pretty good about themselves. But I have picked a few very special ones for this kind of high honors section. I will basically just put stories in here that I think are good examples of the kind of quality I promise in this journal, and would represent that well if someone wanted to go right to a couple short stories to see if this is the kind of journal they'd like to watch. Probably most of the stories I put there are going to be one-shots or short vignettes.
