Review of Battlestar Galactica 4x08: "Sine Qua Non"

- I was yelling at the screen a little when Natalie died because that's just so horrendously inconvenient. And the way they showed it in her perspective with her projecting and everything was sad. (She was imagining herself in Caprica Six and Baltar's forest they used to walk in? That's...hm.)

- Did this episode feel a little anti-climactic to anyone else because you could have guessed almost everything that happened if you watched the promos? Well, except...

- HUSKER. HUSKER. It is sad that PapAdama is giving up command and seems like just as much of a lousy idea for Tigh to take charge as it was when it happened before. But still, he's actually going to get out of CIC and be doing shit and we got to see him using his callsign and how awesome is that?

And of course there's the fact that he is doing all this to be reunited with the woman he loves who is dying and he just can't let her go. How tragic can their relationship get? :'( I just know this ship is going to have me in tears before the end. One of the saddest things about it is both of them are so weighed down by responsibilities that neither of them really have what you could call personal lives, and even though they've become very close they still have never been able to completely give themselves over to this relationship emotionally. And now she's dying and Bill finally has to face that this is happening, so he's giving up all of his responsibilities to find her and for all he knows it might be too late.

And I find a bit of an interesting parallel in this to how he reacted to it when Starbuck was stranded on the moon in You Can't Go Home Again. He can't let Laura go now because he still hasn't been able to tell her he loves her and I think a big part of why he and Lee couldn't give up on Kara is because the last times they had talked to her hadn't gone well and she and Adama especially hadn't had the chance to make up.

On another note, the Adama family goodbye was epic love. <3

- LEE ADAMA IS PRESIDENT. I don't think I've quite gotten this completely in my head yet. Haha. I thought he might be sworn in as vice president, but AAAH. My sister totally called that weeks and weeks ago so now I'm kind of impressed.

- Tigh/Six wth pregnant I really can't handle this it's messing up my brain...I can't believe Adama's model ship got broken again. LOL. This is very interesting, though, because it shows how different the Final Five are from other Cylons. I imagine the whole point of this storyline could be to show that they can reproduce with other Cylons.

- I was really confused about what exactly happened with Lampkin's cat. I smell a cut scene somewhere in there. Or maybe I just wasn't paying attention enough. There's been a really cool-looking storm here and my friend wouldn't shut his windows so I watched almost this whole ep with really loud rain in the background, LOL.

Anyway, I like how the episode title kind of applied to his story, too. It was unexpected.

- JAKE THE DOG IS NOBODY ELSE REMINDED OF THE SAME THING I AM? lolololol. No. Actually, if you've watched all the deleted scenes I know there's one from some episode where Billy says he used to have a dog named Jake. Deliberate connection, accidental connection, or recycling of not-quite-used concepts? LOL. It's cute that they brought the owner of the famous yellow dog bowl back in and what Romo said about hating dogs even more than cats was hilarious.

- Excuse me, fangirly moment: fndkmnsklmmdjknmfdjkss Lee in civilian clothes, yesss. Ahem. And his real name. Is Leland? Hahahaaa I am dead. I bet Zak was really Zachariah then.

- RIP Pike. Asshole. :P All the redshirts and lower-ranking officers are going fast but if Hot Dog dies I will seriously cry. I'm saying that now just to...anti-jinx it or something. Yeah.

- I can't really identify with the Lee/Kara shippers who don't find much of a reason to watch the show anymore. This is in many ways the TV series of my dreams and I appreciate pretty much every aspect of it, and to me even an episode without Lee and Kara ever in the same room is going to be more impressive and beautifully written than anything else I could be watching on television instead. But I'm getting to a point where I am starting to really, really miss having our pilots together. I don't even really mind if they're not together together and just friends. But they're Starbuck and Apollo. Their relationship, even when it was more familial, used to be practically one of the essential elements of the show and sometimes it just doesn't feel like BSG with so little interaction between them.

I don't think the other shippers are being whiny. Well, not all of them. I mean...it's been a long time without the pilots. I'm getting scared for them. O_O

Let's just repeat this to ourselves over and over. RDM LIKES KARA AND LEE. RDM LIKES KARA AND LEE. HE MUST. AAAAH.

I think the whole thing with the cat, was very cool. It took me a bit to realize that Romo was the only one seeing the cat. Then I remembered Lee saying, "Where is he?" and asking if he ever fed it.

I could see the Lee as President thing coming too. Who else was there. Though I do really like Zarek....LOL it's an old BSG thing.

Another Cylon baby....freaky...and this one is all cylon...very cool.
