Two week wait until part 2, it hurts.
- The promo for this episode was kind of misleading. I was looking forward to the Agathon family finally getting an episode mostly focused on them. I don't need to see a bunch of daddy!Helo and mommy!Athena fluff, but there's so little screen time devoted to them and Hera that a lot of the time I forget they've officially been parents now for a while.
- LEE. Yes. I'm getting used to his politician hair. I'm getting kind of used to the whole politician Lee thing in general and it helps that I was mostly on his side of things and not Laura's in this episode. She's pretty much lost my vote as a leader.
What's interesting is on the Galactica Watercooler podcast they were talking a couple weeks ago about how Kara's leadership of the Demetrius crew was bad because there's only so many times you can say "Because I say so" or "Just do it" and sometimes you need to stop and explain yourself so that people will respect and understand you enough to keep wanting to follow you. And that's exactly what I see Roslin doing as president now, too. I understand her concerns and where she's coming from, but I think Lee's right that she owes the people something. She's acting like she's the one doing everything for the sake of the people and they just need to be grateful and shut up when they're doing what's ordered of them all the time with a promise of questionable reliability that things are going to eventually be better.
- I just have to flail for a moment over how much Bear McCreary rocked the music in this episode. Especially at the end while Athena was looking for Hera and I thought I heard a whole new theme played on the erhu (could Bear have given Athena her own theme now instead of also using Boomer's for her scenes? I'll have to check out his blog entry for this ep to find out what it is EDIT: Apparently it's the same melody as what Gaeta's singing but just instrumental. Interesting).
I'll admit right now that waiting for BSG is not as bad for me as the idea of it being over and what I'm actually more disappointed about is not that we have to wait until 2009 for the second half of this season but that it will be that long before there's a season 4 soundtrack release. LOL.
- I saw what you did there, Lee. Very discreetly stealing a glance at Kara while she's in the room with you. Nice. (Gods dammit, I have not given up on you, ship...)
- The Gaeta-is-the-Final-Cylon theory is starting to look slightly more probable to me. "Redemption that will only come in the howl of terrible suffering" could probably describe what he's going through right now. Even if he's not a Cylon, there's clearly something major coming for this character.
- I'm glad both Starbuck and Lee no longer seem impossibly far from reconciling with Laura.
- I miss hilarious Baltar. :( Well, I miss having a little humor on this show in general, but that's another story.
- What was Helo whispering in Starbuck's ear about near the end?
- Very interesting that Tyrol was the only one who cared enough to help Athena look for her daughter and was the one to take her away from Natalie. Oh Tyrol, I loff u. <3
- In the promo Athena looked a little crazy, and the way she was acting with Natalie was still crazy but I could understand why connecting what was happening to the visions made her get that protective. Still, it's kind of ironic that this Sharon of anybody, who understands very well that all Cylons of one model aren't the same, would shoot Natalie for that when it was Caprica in the dream and not her.
- What? JUMP?! Holy crap, where did they go??
- ROMO LAMPKIN IS IN THE NEXT EPISODE PROMO. HE'S BACK. HE'S BACK. OH HOW I LOVE THAT SLIMY GUY. YESSS.

This makes me really sad because Roslin wasn't always like this. Even though she became president rather unwillingly, she stepped up to the position proudly and never complained about how hard her job was.
Dude, just imagine if Lampkin ends up interacting with Starbuck.

Date: 2008-05-18 05:00 am (UTC)I liked that Tyrol followed Athena to look for Hera too, that was sweet.
Gaeta's singing was kind of cool, I didn't know he could sing, and the song was sad and desperate which kind of is where Gaeta probably is right now.
I won't go into the music thing because I've already told you how much I LOVE it!
Two weeks til the next episode, which makes me crazy, but then I think of having to wait until next year and I don't know HOW I'm going to make it. Sigh.

Date: 2008-05-20 01:25 pm (UTC)Nathan Fillion is great on it, and I really like him. Plus I am a fan of most of Whedon's stuff anyways. LOL
You should definitely check it out.
