A long time ago I asked in harry_potter if there was a community where I could find a lot of HP icons that don't just have images from the movies, like text icons or ones with fan art. I was met with dead silence and a suggestion from one person that I just make a community like this. This seemed a little weird for me to do when I don't make icons myself. But since then I have had similar angsts with the way Gaspard Ulliel's face (which, as pretty as it is, has absolutely nothing to do with a teenaged, red-haired American vampire) is being used absolutely everywhere in the Twilight fandom as if nobody is happy with having their own mental image of a character. So it was then I decided it's time to make a community for any book fandom icons that don't use images of real people.

The point isn't that I have a problem with using pictures of actors or other celebrities for graphics of book characters. I just think they can be a little over-used, so much that it's hard to find anything else. I really don't think you should just be screwed if you'd like a Jacob Black icon but don't particularly like Steven Strait as Jacob.
