This is one of the best stories I've read so far while catching up on everything written for the Jacob/Bella Holiday Ficathon at [livejournal.com profile] sortofbeautiful. I can't think of a better way to express what I like about this one than to quote what [livejournal.com profile] daintress said in the comments for it about how it's "one of the few completely disjointed, vague stories that actually makes sense." And you may be surprised to hear that this is describing something written in response to the prompts "Romania, memory loss, and taxi cab sex." Yeah. All three things are really in there and actually feel like they belong together.

Sometimes it seems to me like so many writers across many different fandoms are just mimicking each other by using this kind of disjoined and vague style when not everybody can make it as effective. The best kind of fic written this way can be like a quick punch to the gut and knock a reader's socks off if the writer sees how the point is "less is more," not that you can be vague to make up for a lack of content and meaning. And with this fic, [livejournal.com profile] sophieisgod has definitely succeeded in knocking my socks off and basically destroying me with sentences of so few words.

Oh man, I agree so freaking much.

Anyway, great rec. This was my favorite, too.
