Yoinked from several people. 2007-fic-in-review meme.

01. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?:
A shitload. Now that I look back at how much of my fic is actually from this year, quite a bit more. And fic for a lot of different fandoms I never would have expected to write for.

02. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?:
Anything Twilight. My God. And my brief flirtation with Pirates of the Caribbean took me completely by surprise, too.

03. What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?:
"Hell Is In Ourselves" [HP - Snape(/Lily), Dumbledore]. Easily one of my favorite things I've ever written.

04. Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?:
I wrote Brian Kinney. I learned he's not really that scary and unapproachable and impossible to understand. LOL.

05. Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?:
Produce faster so it doesn't take over my liiiife for so loooong and destroy my GPA.

06. From my past year of writing, what was...

My Best Story:

Again "Hell Is In Ourselves."

Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe:

"The Last Liberty" [PotC - Jack/Elizabeth/Will]. It's far from the best thing I've ever written and I don't like it as much as "Fool's Gold," but it could have gotten a little more love. "Six Kisses" [HP - Remus/Lily/James] was also all but ignored.

Most Fun:

"Of Love and War" [HP - James/Lily/Snape] was pretty fun. I got to play with James' tendency to be an ass, and oh how I love him.

Most Disappointing:

"The Dying of the Light" [Twilight - Edward/Bella/Jacob]. This is kind of ironic since it got a huge amount of attention and I am very fond of this one, but as I've read it over I think I posted it all in a rush and it's just a little sloppy and has room for improvement. It's disappointing because it should be one of my favorite things I've ever done and it's not. That taught me not to risk not having something beta'd.

Most Sexy:

Damn, I wrote nothing sexy. Only fluff and total depression. Though I guess the tension in the complete lack of physical contact in
"Fool's Gold" [PotC - Jack/Elizabeth/Will] is strangely kind of sexy.

Hardest to Write:

"Precious" [QaF - Brian/Justin]. Bitch was kind of exhausting.

Most Unintentionally Telling:

"The Dying of the Light" is such a passive-aggressive fic in a way. I really was trying to see if I could make it a happy ending instead of a tragedy but it ended up being about the survival of tragedy, which is still kind of....eh. Not really what Bella should go through. :(

Choice Lines:

- As he feels the weight starting to lift, he lets the green eyes fill him completely, and himself become set free in them. Death cannot touch them. They will stretch on forever, lasting outside of time and never fading, and from death they will protect him. They penetrate him completely, the only thing that can see straight into the deepest part of him, stripping away all else until there is nothing left but the final judgment. And he is waiting and ready to finally be released from the burning chains, released from himself. He is not afraid.
"Hell Is In Ourselves" [HP - Snape, Dumbledore]

- Jacob takes everything so lightly that sometimes he reminds her of a little kid. It makes the world feel like a safe place again rather than a dark and serious one. Somehow, at some point, the sound of Edward's voice humming her lullaby in the dark at night has been replaced with the chipper sound of Jacob casually whistling in the daytime as she's gotten used to him habitually doing all the time when she's with him. It's a very different kind of pleasing and comforting sound, like the chirping of birds outside as the sun is rising.
"Monster Movies" [Twilight - Jacob/Bella]

- Maybe love is hell, but he will boldly walk through it for her, feel the burning of the flames for the whole of his remaining life.
"Hell Is In Ourselves"

- A part of my original book The Green Shadow that I cried with happiness when I wrote. I was being kind of crazy and if you have me friended on [livejournal.com profile] paintedponyxox you may have heard that story. But I'd rather not post it here. :)

- And when Edward sits up and leans over her, surprising her with a quiet kiss when she still hasn't opened her eyes, the sun is going down but the bold, breaking dawn behind her eyelids is blinding. She and everyone who is a part of her, all of them are here now. With their love they are all forever bound, they are illuminated and find each other in the dark again and again, they persist and are always fighting and struggling against dying, against ends. They live.
"The Dying of the Light" [Twilight]

- A lot of parts of "Precious" [QaF - Brian/Justin], I'm sure, but I just can't think of anything specifically at the moment. LOL.

Thank you. :) Yeah, it's kind of daunting to look back and see how productive I really was the past year.
