flowrs4opheliaYou probably aren't a big lurker at fanfic sites if you aren't already familiar with the work of Emmyjean, but that seems like reason enough that I just have to recommend some of her stories to get the basics out of the way while this journal is getting started.
"Crossroads" is actually not my favorite of her stories, but has become one of their classics at The Hidden Tower, a primarily Harry/Ginny site that only accepts very well-written and canon-faithful stories. She has rewritten the entire story so that it would fit with OotP canon, which I personally think is something nobody should feel they have to do. I mean, it's fanfiction. But as I never read the original version and like this one, I can't really complain, and as a writer I can appreciate opporunities to improve one's finished work; I've often wished I could go back and change stuff after I've uploaded it and said "the end."
In a nutshell, this is basically another J&L get together fic, but it is a very unique take on the story that has been beat to death in fanfiction. James and Lily first overcome their dissagreements and become good friends, but realizing their feelings for each other proves a lot more complicated. The story is often very funny, often very sad, and has some great kissing scenes (but you can't be reading it just for that stuff; it's too long a fanfic to get through just for a couple parts of good snoggage).
