Fanfic Rec: "Cold" (Brokeback Mountain)

flowrs4opheliaHa, I think this makes a record for how shortly after a story has originally been posted that I've recommended it.
I think this writer did an amazing job on this one-shot considering she is not a big BBM fan and not even a member of any BBM communities (![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
trascedenza convinced her to do it with a request when she did a prompt meme and them pimped it for her). Its level of quality certainly doesn't suggest she had to be dragged kicking and screaming into doing it, LOL.
What I like the best in this is her descriptions of the mountain as not being the paradise Ennis remembers. It shows how Brokeback Mountain really was an idealized thing for Jack and Ennis, which is why they could never go back there again; it never would have been the same as it was that first summer they were there together.
