I've been searching desperately for some good stories to rec that aren't MWPP-era or Lupin/Tonks because that's not everybody's cuppa. I was searching for some deep, intelligent Snape fics and had nearly given up when I just kept finding stories with summaries like "Snape falls in love with a wall." But then I stumbled across this wonderful collection of short stories about Snape at The Sugar Quill.
"Dreamscapes" is a series of four vignettes inspired by poetry by T. S. Eliot and other literary works. All of these clever short snippets out of the life of Severus Snape are about his hidden, unsuperficial self and his inner conflicts. We see him in ways we never see him through Harry's eyes in the books (which is exactly what fanfic is for!). It doesn't really matter if the author has portrayed Snape as being a little too easy to feel sorry for and almost a pleasant kind of guy, because it is written so well I accept it as being justifiable and reasonable.

Title: Dreamscapes
Author: Sweeney Agonistes
Characters: Snape, Dumbledore
Rating: G
Summary: Four vignettes about Snape: a walk through Knockturn Alley, an orphaned young girl, a mystery in the Forbidden Forest, and a bit of a mid-life crisis concerning his worth as a teacher.
Link: Death and the Raven drift above...
Some more fan art recs!

Snape and Narcissa in Chapter 2 of HBP by [livejournal.com profile] squirmy
This person has a really neat and unique style. I love Narcissa's hair and her clothes.

Just come cute sketches of some characters' faces: Hermione, Harry, Ron, & Ginny by [livejournal.com profile] tikigeek
They look like they came right out of a Disney movie. Well, you know, before Disney became just Pixar and gave up on the art of traditional animation (idiots).

Draco and his bitches (Crabbe and Goyle polyjuiced up as girls) by [livejournal.com profile] cathybites
I'm still cracking up laughing every time I think of C and G as first-year girls. "You're very pretty, aren't you?" LOL.

Tonks by [livejournal.com profile] i_spite_thee
A cute and realistically not-too-pretty Tonks. I like the soft pretty colors in it.

"The Path To Redemption" (Snape) by [livejournal.com profile] lyntek
AMAZING, dark, angsty Snape picture with a quote from his argument with Dumbledore in HBP.

Very feminine Draco by [livejournal.com profile] _lile
I don't care how very not-Draco everything about this picture is. It's a great piece of art. He kind of makes me think of David Bowie in Labyrinth.

Comic of Slughorn singing "I Am The Walrus" by [livejournal.com profile] squirmy
Hilarious! I suppose the inspiration for this is that Slughorn is constantly described as looking walrus-like, though come to think of it the artist never actually said that. ::shrug:: I don't know if many people know this, but the Beatles are JKR's favorite band. So slipping a Beatles referrence into anything having to do with HP just makes sense to me.

HP girls: Hermione, Ginny, and Fleur
Very cute headshots.

Luna and Another Tonks by monstarling
This is really close to what I imagine Tonks to look like. Heart-shaped face and all, pretty but not glamorous, and not wearing something that screams too much "I'm a REBEL anarchee Sex Pistols piercings YeAAH!!!!11!"

"Wotcher, Remus? Nice hair" (Lupin and Tonks) and Lupin and Tonks in Chapter 29 of HBP by Nasubionna
The first is a cute picture of Dora mimicking Remus's prematurely graying hair, drawn before Book 6 came out, which can be interpreted as you wish. I'm sure you know what's going on in the second one.
