"Jack laughs, back in the dirt, head propped up on his swag. The night is upside down and back to front; impossible and perfect like all the others. 'You reckon the harmonica’s bad? Friend, it sounds like you swallowed the damn thing and it’s fighting its way back up.'"
I've been really behind on keeping up with all the BBM fics lately but luckily something about this one caught my attention on my friends page and I started reading it. It's great to know really good work like this is still being produced in this fandom. This one is a perfectly realistic portrayal of how Jack and Ennis would have acted with each other during the many nights they spent together on Brokeback the first summer. They talk easily and openly, about anything but what this is they're doing. There's a very clever part in this story when Jack makes a small, suggestive comment and Ennis evades getting into the subject immediately, yet a minute later is on the ground with Jack doing what they won't talk about.
Title: Just This.
Author:
mijmeraar
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Another night on Brokeback; they didn't talk about it, just let it happen.
Link: where spurs are jinglin' a cowboy is singin' this lonesome call
