Now, honestly, if you are at all involved in the BBM fandom and haven't already read "Human Interest," then I don't know where the hell you've been. The author of this one is a professional writer so I would really feel idiotic writing all that much specific stuff about why it's good, as if I'm in any position to critique it in any way. Besides, my love for this story is way far away from mere respect for another writer's commendable work - it's all the way over at worship and obsession. I have been following this fanfic religiously, refreshing my friends page about thirty times a day hoping there will be an update and sometimes blowing off studying for tests just to read new chapters.

Everyone's comments on this story say basically the same thing: It fills the void that the movie left. You leave the theatre after seeing the film with all of these questions in your head like "But couldn't they have...?" and "But what if...?" This fanfic is the answer to all of the "what if"s. It's alternate-universe, but it's totally believable. It's almost painful to read about Jack and Ennis living a happy life having found a place where the world is not so cruel to them, because comparing it to the real outcome of their story is so saddening. But try it. It helps ease the ache that the movie leaves you with. Not that it's a perfect happily-ever-after story either; Ennis and Jack are fucking lucky guys in this life [livejournal.com profile] madlori has written them into just because they are so deeply and crazily in love, but that doesn't mean they don't have to overcome a lot of difficulties - and I don't mean day-to-day difficulties (Just trust me - it ain't no fluff around about chapter 14...).
